As part of our week-long celebration in appreciation of Irish Whiskey, it seems only fitting to draw attention to the rare and storied old casks that, like a limerick, provide a mysterious relic to Ireland’s past. Paving the way is The Teeling Whiskey Company, one of Ireland’s few remaining independent whiskey companies, who has released its Silver Reserve 21 Year Old Single Malt Irish whiskey, the first bottling from its new Vintage Reserve Collection. This Silver Reserve bottling consists of 21 Year Old Single Malt Irish whiskey distilled in 1991 and matured first in Bourbon casks then allowed to marry in Sauternes wine casks. This small batch bottling, limited to only 5,000 bottles, is the first ever Irish whiskey to be finished in Sauternes wine casks. Containing some of the oldest Single Malt Irish whiskey ever bottled, the Vintage Reserve Collection will be individually hand bottled in exclusive decanters worthy of such rare whiskey offerings. Just think, we already gave 95 points to the Teeling Small Batch Blended Whiskey, and this one’s got two decades on it…
