Popular Broadway musicals, such as Hamilton and Aladdin, are presented in Hollywood at the Pantages Theatre. Wood and Vine, located across from the theatre in the historic Taft Building, is among the top spots for pre-theatre dining. Offices above the restaurant were previously home to many movie studios and their stars, including Charlie Chaplin and Will Rogers. Wood and Vine offers interior seating in their cool “old-industrial” dining room and bar, and in their private courtyard patio enclosed by adjacent office buildings.

Wood and Vine’s drink menu includes musical-inspired craft cocktails, such as Let A Lad In (Nolet’s Gin, Crème de Violette, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur and fresh lemon) and Pure Genie US (Tequila Blanco, Blue Curacao, Triple Sec, lime and agave syrup). The creative cocktail names are inspired by the show currently playing at the Pantages Theatre.Wood and Vine Dec 2017 - Chicken Waffles drinkmemag.com drink me Wood&Vine

Wood and Vine’s food is prepared and served for sharing – starters, entrees and desserts are easily split between a couple. The Charcuterie and Cheese Board is an excellent example of a family-style starter, served with pickles, seasonal jam and grained mustard. If you like fish, I recommend the mouth-watering Ahi Tuna Tartare, which is accompanied by aromatic sweet chili sauce and crispy rice crackers. Among my favorite entrees is the tasty Chicken and Waffles – the waffles are infused with rosemary and served with butternut squash and maple syrup. Chef Jennifer O’Neill’s Pan-Crusted Salmon is delicious too, crispy skin on salmon with peas, prosciutto and roasted tomatoes. For dessert, I enjoyed Butterscotch – house butterscotch, maple ice cream and sweet thyme crumble.
