Four Pillars Navy Strength is for when you need your gin to stand up in a drink.
They started experimenting with some high proof batches of their Rare Dry Gin for the Gin Palace in early 2014, soon after they launched. After the fact, they decided to add fresh ‘Judy’s Everbearing’ native finger limes (alongside organic oranges), to ensure that the flavour profile of the gin was as powerful as the alcohol. Beware, at 58.8% alcohol by volume (118 proof) it does pack a serious Navy-style punch.
The fresh citrus goes into the botanical basket, giving the Navy Strength Gin its signature intensity. The finger limes highlight the Asian spices like coriander and star anise, and are complemented by the addition of fresh ginger. Finally, on the palate fresh turmeric adds weight and an earthy quality, not unlike dill. The resulting gin is intense, but still very clean and smooth, working seamlessly in a classic Gimlet or Southside.
