Childhood nostalgia and adult beverages make a great pair. San Francisco’s latest iteration of child’s play and booze is Brewcade, a Market Street bar-arcade curated by Kai Villegas (formerly of Monk’s Kettle). The bar – opened on December 10 by the owners of neighboring cocktail bar Blackbird – has 25 beers on tap, five wines, four draught cocktails, and even a sparkling slushie, with sparkling wine, reisling and brachetto, all beside an arcade of vintage video game favorites. Grab a $5 pint of the Little Chicken Hoppy Lager from HenHouse Brewing Co., and start popping quarters on Super Mario Bros., Ms. Pac-Man, Frogger, or any of the 24 playtime gems housed in vintage consoles. Or, really channel your inner child and crack open a pop from Brewcade’s craft soda bar, to wash down the jerky, chicharones, corn nuts, and caramel corn, sold on site.
