In this episode, host Leiti Hsu is back at the table this time with Sommelier Vilma Mazaite and chef/owner Kaiser Lashkair at Houston’s favorite Northern Indian and Pakistani restaurant, Himalaya. Himalaya is named for the highest mountain in India, representing the peak of flavor, and the flavors here definitely don’t disappoint. Like the three unique wines they share, Himalaya combines three culinary backgrounds, Indian, Pakistani, and Texan, to create a dining experience to remember.
The three meet over a trio of classic and elegant wines- Château Bichon Cassignols ‘Le Petit Bichon’ Rouge, Graves, Château Quinault L’Enclos, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, and Château Carbonnieux Blanc, Pessac-Leognan – to discuss the secrets of what makes good naan and what makes good wine (and some Meryl Streep movies on the side).
When asked to provide some advice for those of us young and hungry and who want to get into wine. Vilma Mazaite says simply “be adventurous!” Watch the full episode here:
