The spirit that has been slowly sweeping the markets and bars all around the world has been launched by Oslo Distillery on February 13th. Their prior products VIDDA Tørr Fin and MARKA (a Nordic digestive bitter) have both been recognized in The Spirits Business’ list of the most Innovative Spirit Launches of 2016. Akevitt (also spelled akvavit or aquavit) has been produced since the 15th century by steeping herbs and spices, which are chosen according to local preference of flavor and their cuisine. OHD strives to bring back authenticity to the akevitt category and is dedicated to revive traditional customs with the creation of high quality artisanal spirits enriched with Nordic botanicals.

OHD AKEVITT is made of meadowsweet, heather flower, St. John’s wort, dandelion root, angelica root, yarrow, chamomile flower, sorrel, hyssop and horehound and matured for 12 months in American oak casks that give the spirit its light golden hue, full-bodied character and diverse aromatics. It is usually consumed during celebrations, mainly Christmas but you can find it in many cocktails around the world. Enjoy this spirit at room temperature served in a tulip-shaped glass or a shot during a meal.
