London has long been known for producing high quality and distinguished gin. The Distillery, a company offering a remarkable gin experience and working distillery, is at the center of production on Portobello Road. Gin Historian and distiller Jake Burger is reclaiming the history of this spirit with The Distillery’s newest addition, Old Tom. Old Tom is a bit of a departure from what you might be used to drinking, but for that reason, it more closely resembles the gin produced in the 18th and early 19th centuries. A strong wheat palette touches the tongue upon first sip, resembling a warmer whiskey than a more familiar and commercial gin.
