Single malt whiskey is very much associated with the sprawling green fields and stone castles of the Old World, but that didn’t stop Jess Graber and George Stranahan from opening an exclusively single malt distillery in Denver. Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey hand-produces each batch of whiskey to ensure that every bottle comes out perfectly. They’ve won numerous accolades since their opening and are carving out their own place amongst the heavyweights of the whiskey world.
Their newest offering, Stranahan’s Sherry Cask, is aged for four years in white American oak barrels before being cask-finished in Spanish Sherry barrels. The fruity flavors held over from the wine barrels give Stranahan’s Sherry Cask a layered profile, boasting tasting notes of honey, blackcurrant, and fig with caramel, brown sugar and smoked cayenne to finish. It’s a whiskey that is a fresh take on smooth and refined.
