Public is housed in an impressively large space that feels like a hip library complete with Edison bulbs, tall brick walls, and dark wood. The one Michelin star restaurant’s menu is made up of rustic, hearty plates with a focus on ingredients from Australia and New Zealand. Also focused on the lands down-under is their wine menu. With few domestic choices, Public forces you step outside of Napa and find something new and delicious from the southern hemisphere. Chances are you’ll find something on their long list of Chardonnay, Cabernet, and Shiraz wines (including large and small format bottles). A strong bar program to boot makes Public an excellent place to spend the evening.
