Tequila is a beautiful drink, the quality and attention to detail when done correctly is paramount and we’re delighted to be able to showcase 5 of the tequila’s that simply take our breath away. If you’re looking for a little something to drink straight and truly indulge, we’ve got you sorted.
Casa Dragones Tequila Joven
Fashioned by Bob Pittman (MTV/AOL cofounder) and Bertha González Nieves, a tequila genius, this charcoal filtered, crystal clear creation is crafted for ultimate sippability. Joven means ‘young’ and Casa Dragones earns this title by combining un-aged and 5 year aged tequila for a salty/sweet sipper with a fruity finish. An exceptionally well crafted tequila that sits at the top of our list. They don’t call it the world’s best sipping tequila for no reason.
Avion Extra Añejo Reserva 44
As seen on the HBO hit Entourage, this Avion brand Special Reserve owes its unique flavor to its two part creation. After spending 43 months in American Oak barrels, the peppery tequila is stored for a month in smaller barrels that are rotated daily to deepen the woody highlights that work in harmony with the agave. The tall, slim hand-signed and numbered bottles hold a rich yet spicy tequila that is perfect for sipping.
Gran Centenario Leyenda Extra Añejo Tequila
This rare tequila ages for three years in virgin French Limousin Oak barrels before saying “Bonjour” to the world as it is bottled in unique, sun-shaped works of art! Created in Mexico at a family-owned distillery, this 100% Blue Agave treat has a deep amber tint and boasts a rich, complex base of pepper and oak, highlighted with clove and maple. Both its limited availability and price make this tequila one for the true connoisseurs!
Don Julio Real Tequila Extra-Aged Añejo Tequila
This award winning tequila is aged 5 years in American Oak barrels before going through a double distillation for extra smoothness. The results of all this special attention is a desert-like sipper that pairs the coolness of vanilla with the spice of Mexican hot chocolate before slicing through the sweetness with the nuttiness of roasted almond. As one of the most expensive, commercially available tequilas, this Extra Añejo champion should be savored and sipped slowly!
DeLeón Extra Añejo Tequila
Also known as DeLeón 51 because of its 51 month aging process using the same French barrels as wine makers, this tequila is a heavy-weight champion coming in at a staggering 102 proof! DeLeón spends just as much time and effort on the creation of the bottle as what goes inside to ensure each product is worth the hefty price tag. This strong sipper keeps it simple with a grassy agave and woody oak base rounded out by a subtle vanilla finish to counteract the burn from the high alcohol content.
