Made by the oldest wine co-operative in France, this golden-rose colored wine proves the ageability of pinot blanc.

The wine’s aroma of honey-ripe and dried apples brings the change of seasons into sharp focus: a gentle transition from late summer to early autumn. This wine has a lovely textured mouthfeel, along with light nutty, appley fruit – even now, over a dozen years after the grapes were hand-harvested. A medium-long finish in the wine offers citric minerality from the limestone soil in the vineyards which lie at the foot of the Vosges Mountains in Alsace.

Notes: Serve chilled, not super-cold. Alcohol 13%. If you can’t find this vintage, do try the more easily available 2017, which is organic. Surprisingly inexpensive; exact pricing depends on your region.
