The Alchemist Heady Topper Double IPA
98 points. It’s not often that you are instructed to drink beer from a can—I mean this literally: this can is adorned with a request to not pour the nectar into a glass if possible, and to simply enjoy it from the metal vessel itself. Given the reputation of this brew, I was in no position to forego the instructions on the side. Good thing: This is like “drinking velvet,” as my wife said, and the aromatics were close to otherworldly. Amazing floral and burnt honey flavors mingled with preserved lemon, almond and praline, pecan, flowers, dried apricot, and pineapple. Rich, unctuous, and just about perfect. The hoppiness is pronounced yet never overweening. Phenomenal.
