The Hochar Pere et Fils 2012 vintage is due to be released to the public in September this year and we’re delighted to say that this fantastic single vineyard blend from the original pioneers of Lebanese wine, surpassed all expectations and is more than worthy of a place amongst our ‘latest and greatest’ wines from around the world.
Dark ruby in colour, this oily nectar cascades around the glass coating every inch, with legs that any catwalk parade would be proud of. At first there is a slight confected Pinot feel going on, with strawberry and cream quite apparent, but after a short while decanted, intense aromas of dark berries, wood spice and liquorice engulf one’s senses, revealing the full bouquet. In the mouth, vibrant red fruit, black cherry and some earthy prune, with a fine thread of vanillin that runs across the whole palate.
Full bodied, dry, well structured, with silky tannins, wonderful balance and a never ending finish. There is a feeling the flavours and aromas of this beautiful wine are of a particularly salubrious nature and the complexity far exceeds what this price range usually offers.
Serve between 16-19’c, enjoy on its own or with spiced lamb or tagine. This vintage will age gracefully for the best part of a decade.
Enjoy!
