Deeply rooted in the history of the land, Knappogue Castle Whiskey was ideated in 1966 when Mark Edwin Andrews happened upon the ruins of a 15th century castle – he and his wife set out to restore the castle to its former beauty, and create a haven for whiskeys from top distilleries in Ireland.
The latest limited release from the distillery is the Knappogue Castle 12 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey. This spirit, named after the castle that inspired it meaning “hill of the kiss” in Gaelic, was crafted entirely with malted barley, triple distilled in onion-shaped copper stills, and aged in bourbon casks for 12 years. The distillation process, coupled with the climate of the land brings forward the unique flavor palate of this whiskey. With aromatic notes of rich, peppery spice, and tasting notes of bright, elegant fruitiness and spice, this whiskey is a sophisticated experience with a medium-long, smooth finish. This spirit is something you can feel the history of – whether you like your whiskey straight, or want to mix it into a nightcap, Knappogue Castle 12 Year is something you need to experience for yourself.
