Errazuriz Family Estate created a beautiful red blend wine of the 2013 vintage that is a bright ruby red in color and stands out for its freshness and elegance. The different varieties of grapes that go into The Red Blend came from specific sectors of the Max and Ocoa vineyards in the Valle de Aconcagua. These vineyards have prolonged dry seasons with moderately warm summer days that are cooled by the evening breezes that enter the valley from the Pacific Ocean. In Ocoa, the vines are planted in soil with low vigour potential and good drainage, while in Max, the soil is excellent for drainage, which creates medium to low vigour.

The 2012-2013 season was cold, especially in the northern area, with rain during spring and variable yields according to each variety and climatic zone. The spring rains made vine vigour a great challenge than most years but what resulted was a delicious wine highlighted by the cooler weather. Each of the varieties were carefully handpicked and fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged for 16 months in French oak barrels. The larger percentage of Mourvèdre contributed excellent acidity, structure, complex aromas and black fruit. The Syrah contributed ripe black and red fruit as well as soft, intense tannins. The Petit Verdot not only lent a lively freshness due to its good acidity but also intense aromatic notes. Finally, the Grenache delivered notes of red fruits such as cherries and blackberries along with black pepper, black olives and chocolate. The result is The Blend 2013 that seduces with its intensity and fresh-fruit aromas with a dry and juicy palate with good acidity and fine tannins that integrate well with the lush, fibrous body. Its suggested pairings are grilled and roasted red meats, casseroles and stews and mature strong cheeses.
