Though not as large as New York’s Broadway theater district, Los Angeles’ entertainment center is host to many theaters offering a broad range of hit musicals, classic plays, live comedy and concerts. Located a couple of blocks from world-famous Hollywood Boulevard, and nearby Pantages, Fonda and Montalban theaters, is Ever Bar, in the recently opened Kimpton Everly Hotel. Rounding out an enjoyable night at the theater, Ever Bar offers an inspiring menu of craft cocktails and hearty bar bites in a spacious lounge with cozy spots for intimate conversation and group gatherings.
Lead Bartender, Dan Rook, brings his nationally recognized mixology art to Ever Bar. I suggest you ask Dan for one or more of his excellent culinary-driven riffs on classic cocktails. Among my favorites are “Bone Thighs & Harmony (Millionaire)”: St. George Shochu, Grand Marnier, Pomegrante, Duck-Confit Bone Broth, sage leaf garnish; “Say Wha!? (Daquiri)”: St. George Terroir Gin, lime, avocado and chili agave; and the “Steve Mansfield (Manhattan)”: Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon, St. George Coffee Liquor and house-made arugula-apple Amaro. Dan is also a certified Cicerone, or beer expert, so you may prefer to quiz him about his locally-sourced craft beers.
To complement your pre- or post-showtime drinks, I suggest sampling from the exquisite bar bite menu. Among the delicious dishes I recommend are the “Buffalo” Cauliflower, with espelete pepper and pickled carrots; Shrimp ‘Po-Boy’, with pickled fennel, remoulade and brioche; and Pimento Cheese Hush Puppies with lime aioli. And, for the evening’s finale, you can enjoy the delicious Cookies and Milk – as the menu states “warm goodness”.
Let the showtime begin!
