Petit Verdot; most commonly used as a blending grape in Bordeaux, small in size, packed with tannin and notoriously hard to extract full flavour, due to it’s inherently thick skin. There’s no such problem however with this beauty from Southern Australia, incredible flavour extraction bursting from this inky, ripe, full bodied masterpiece. Oh the joys of a warmer climate influence. This grape loves Australia and Australia loves this grape and I love them both for sending this delectable nectar to the UK!

Incredibly enigmatic, yet easy enough to identify as a wonderfully crafted wine with excellent balance and structure. Hugely impressive for this price bracket. A wine to stock en mass, of that there is no doubt!

A rich pungent nose of over ripe plum, violets, sticky tar, burnt rubber and charred wood. In the mouth the decadence continues, with black cherry, boozy damson, sweet vanilla and liquorice. Intensely inky and oily in complexion, big polished juicy tannins, a linear acidity, velvety mouthfeel and long, dry finish.

Affordable, well rounded, well balanced and characterful. All from a somewhat forgotten Bordeaux varietal. This is new world wine at it’s best.
