Fischer’s Baslow Hall is a relaxing 100 year old Grade ll listed Manor House retreat. Extremely accessible from major cities such as Manchester, Sheffield, Derby and Stoke, you will find it set in the glorious countryside in the heart of the Peak District National Park. It would make either an excellent overnight stop or a splendid countryside bolt hole to explore the surrounding areas that both Derbyshire and the Peak District have to offer, including Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House.
Set in 5 acres of lovely walled gardens the hotel has 11 stunning bedrooms. You will find the rooms tastefully decorated and beautifully furnished with an extremely comfortable bed and a touch of luxury in the organic handmade toiletries sourced from the Sedbergh Soap Company.

Dinner is served in the richly deserved Michelin star and Three Red rosette -AA award winning restaurant. On the menu you can expect to find an excellent choice of delicious dishes. For starter we enjoyed tempura of Devon crab and salmon, with a cucumber ketchup, Yuzu and Dill, and hand dived scallops, cauliflower, couscous black pudding and apple. Both of which were fabulous and did not disappoint. For main I would recommend the Derbyshire pork jowl served with piccalilli, langoustine and grilled baby gem – not only did it look stunning but the flavours were incredible. Finally, for dessert we chose the Banana and Caramel Soufflé which was served with caramel vodka and was definitely a taste sensation.

March saw the launch of the Wine Room at Baslow Hall. The Wine Room has been transformed into a contemporary and sophisticated space where guests can indulge their passion for fine food and wine. The interior continues the Georgian theme and there is a feature temperature controlled wine wall. The Wine Room will host events such as meet the maker, the first of which is on Wednesday, the 25th of April with wine producer Frédéric Chaudière from Château Pesquié, who will take you on a journey of the Ventoux wine region. This will be accompanied by a tasting menu. Throughout the year they will also be hosting a range of special foraging events.

One thing that caught my eye was that Fischer’s offer an exciting innovative opportunity to try a glass of wine from some specially selected wines by use of a Coravin. This is an ingenious little gadget that allows a glass of wine to be poured from a bottle without letting any air in. Thus the bottle remains sealed!
You can expect to experience a very warm and friendly welcome at Fischer’s Baslow Hall and I would highly recommend a visit.
