Columbus Coffee Trail
Unlike the typical coffee roaster rivalry that we are so used to seeing –won’t mention city names— in Columbus several of the independent roasters have teamed up together to create the “Columbus Coffee Experience”. Simply pick up a card at one of the eight participating coffee shops, get your card stamped at four or more locations on the trail, then head to the Arena District Visitor Center to redeem a free Columbus Coffee t-shirt. Need a place to start? Pop into One Line Coffee and try a hand poured cup of the San Adolfo, described on their menu wall as “candied pineapple, honeysuckle, gorgeous”.

The Guild House
While you’re in Short North, start the night off right with dinner at The Guild House inside the Le Méridien. Recently opened in January of 2015, with its eclectic design of lumber beams supporting the wall structures, modern minimalist bar area, even down to the giant painting of farmland, the space really offers you a true feeling of the Ohio landscape. Enjoy your delicious dinner with a glass of wine from their extensive list or order one of the specialty 2-person cocktails served from a unique canteen with glass on one side allowing you to see the cocktail being poured. Chef John Paul Iacobucci emphasizes the use of quality ingredients with low manipulation, allowing them to naturally express their textures and flavors. In other words, encouraging them to “speak for themselves”.

The German Village
A great way to immerse yourself into the Columbus culture with this neighborhood’s enchanting beauty. Brick streets still pave some the landscape, exposing the neighborhood’s traditional German heritage. You can take a morning stroll along the serene lake at Schiller Park, where you will find a large bronze statue of famous German poet, Friedrich Schiller. Surrounding the park you will also find some of the neighborhood’s most lavish homes, all of which gorgeously combine the brick standard with each of their own distinct design. Afterwards, head over to Pistachia Vera for one of their famed pastries that people come from all over to enjoy. When you’ve finished there, walk about a block down the street until you come to The Book Loft where you can get lost in a rabbit hole of 32 different rooms filled with books of all genres. But be sure to keep your phone handy, you wouldn’t be the first person to get lost in the elaborate labyrinth of bookshelves.
