Cracking open a Trickery Beer is like bobbing for apples, except you can actually enjoy it over the age of six (indeed, you should technically only enjoy it well past age six). This Imperial Milk Stout has been aged for eight months in apple brandy barrels, so you can enjoy the warm flavor of turning seasons without the water up your nose. And with the beer’s hints of caramel, vanilla, and dark chocolate, there’s no need to steal the neighbor kid’s trick-or-treat haul—especially when it’s January. Ah, it’s good to be a grown-up—but as we all know, the journey to adulthood makes us who we are today. That’s certainly the case for Hardywood Park Craft Brewery founders Eric McKay and Patrick Murtaugh, who’ve shared dreams and friendship since childhood. A respect for both beer and each other kept the two close through not only college and career, but the ten years of hard work it took for them to launch Hardywood in October 2011. The Virginia-based brewery exists to “introduce people to the joy of authentic, hand-crafted beer.” No tricks here!
