It’s a pretty bold statement for a winery to declare they were the ‘first’ to do something, especially nowadays when everyone seems to find some claim to fame. But Matua has something a little special up it’s sleeve, after all, they were the pioneers of Sauvignon Blanc in New Zealand, no big deal or anything. Yep, they were the first winery to plant the grape variety and have been producing sensational wines ever since. The first Sauvignon Blanc vintage dates back to 1974; fast-forward just ten years and they became one of the first wineries to produce our wondrous Sauv Blanc in Marlborough, arguably one of the world’s best producing regions for this variety.
Often when we think of Marlborough Sauvs, we think of vibrant tropical notes and that’s exactly what you can expect to find here. Crisp, refreshing aromas of pineapple, melon and kiwi alongside a little pink grapefruit for the perfect balance. There’s a reason Matua is becoming one of the most anticipated and sought-after NZ Sauvignon Blancs out of New Zealand and if you haven’t already experienced it, it’s about time you did.
