Dulce Vida Blanco Tequila

Cinco De Mayo Drink Recipes

Cinco De Mayo is a celebration of Mexican heritage. Here in America, we honor the proud history of our neighbors to the south the best way we know how: drinking really good tequila. For my tastes, there is no better homage to Jalisco than Dulce Vida.

The Tequila Institute

With Cinco De Mayo rapidly approaching, the follow video illustrates the importance of getting your hands on quality tequila for the upcoming festivities…

Tequila Time

Spring has sprung. Sun is shining and the weather is sweet. So are the cocktails. During these beautiful in-between months when the blossoms start to bloom, I like to bust out the lighter spirits from my liquor cabinet.  I immediately feel rejuvenated, an infusion of life, right as rain. Tequila has a lot to do with this.

Dulce Vida Organic Spirits

Dulce Vida bills itself as the world’s only 100% organic, 100 proof tequila. This is quite the distinction. But what really sets apart this brand of high-end spirits is the taste.

Partida Tequila

It’s time to talk tequila. And not the crappy kind with the harsh finish and ambiguous taglines. I want the smooth, delectable nectar of 100% pure blue agave. Partida ultra premium brand fits the bill. The botanical, Earthy aroma that gently wafts from an open bottle of their Blanco is spellbinding.

National Margarita Day

Today is National Margarita Day. I’m not sure exactly why it’s not an actual holiday nor why it lands in the dead of winter. But hey, that’s not going to stop you from celebrating. And while there are a million versions of the classic Mexican cocktail, here’s a South African variation that will knock your socks off…

Rock ‘N Roll Tequila

Pounding tequila shots is one of those things that can immediately make you feel like a rock star. It’s only fitting then that you enjoy the classic Mexican spirit out of a bottle fashioned into the shape of modern music’s most familiar contour: the electric guitar.

Herradura Tequila Night

This upcoming Tuesday, Chef Richard Sandoval of Maya (1191 1st Avenue) in Manhattan will unveil his very own limited edition barrel of Herradura Tequila. The special event will be highlighted by a three-course dinner at this hip, Upper East Side mecca for Modern Mexican.

More Margaritas

Last week I posted an unconventional recipe for orange cream margaritas that’s proven to be so popular (with friends and family, at least) that I deemed it necessary to share another zany cocktail combination involving the terrific tastes of tequila.

Recipe: Orange Cream Margarita

Margaritas and ice cream are two of the great joys of summer–and of life, for that matter. But who says that they need to be enjoyed separately? Combine your pleasures with this super simple recipe blending the flavor of a nostalgic orange creamsicle and the heavenly head buzz of the classic tequila cocktail. In terms of technical equipment, all you’ll ready need access to is a blender. Show up to your Labor Day Suarez with just a handful of easily procurable ingredients and you’ll be the rockstar of the party. Orange Cream Margarita (makes 1 serving): Take 1.5 oz. of your favorite tequila–I prefer Patron–throw in a half oz. of triple sec, and a few squeezes of lime, 2.5 oz. of orange juice and a scoop of pure vanilla ice cream. Combine all ingredients with 5-6 oz. of ice in a blender and slush it all up for a few [...]
