Tacos and Tall Boys

As an avid aficionado of craft beer, I’ve long been a fan of Simmzy’s (229 Manhattan Beach Blvd.) in Manhattan Beach, CA. I mean, how could you not? It boasts one of the widest selections of microbrews in this part of Southern California, backs that up with some of the most creative, mouth-watering menu selections, and then offers all of it just about a block away from the beach. The winning combination was such a hit that last year they opened a second location in the Belmont Shores section of Long Beach. The newer space is even bigger and has even more beer on draft. It might sound like it can’t get much better. But it can. More like, ‘canned.’

Product Review: TAPS Imperial Balinese Stout

My newest alcoholic obsession is a limited-release Imperial Russian Stout from TAPS (101 E. Imperial Hwy.) out of Brea, California. The Balinese has absolutely everything I’m looking for in this style of beer. If you see it, drink it, love it.

In celebration of Winter and the annual release of Anchor’s Christmas Ale, Gladstones (17300 Pacific Coast Highway), a Los Angeles landmark, will host An Evening With Anchor Brewing on the evening of December 2nd.

Long overshadowed by well-established craft scenes to the north and south, Los Angeles county is catching up with a handful of microbreweries worthy of recognition. Just beyond the crowded runways of LAX, you’ll find one of these pioneering outposts right along the quaint downtown stretch of El Segundo, California.

Red Carpet Wine And Spirits Merchants

If you’re into craft beer and wine, then you know how difficult it can be to find a specific producer in any given region. Part of what makes craft products so crafty is that they come from small facilities that often don’t distribute far beyond their specific area. This can be quite problematic if you’ve ever relocated after developing a fixation on beer or wine that is exclusive to your former location. Thankfully there are a few purveyors out there who can help you overcome these unfortunate obstacles. And happier we all are to have them in our lives. One such savior is Red Carpet Wine & Spirits Merchants (400 E Glenoaks Boulevard) in Glendale, California. In existence for nearly 50 years, since before there ever was a craft scene in the United States, Red Carpet has had plenty of time over the years to develop lasting relationships with quality [...]
