Mother's Day Cocktails

Mother’s Day Cocktails

Today is one of the most popular dining days of the year. Moms do so much, they deserve to be treated to a nice meal on their own special day. But no holiday is complete without that certain celebratory cocktail. As an added treat for your momma, put together one of these delicious drinks. Or ask a professional to do it for you…

Buffalo Trace Bourbon

Big Easy Boozin’

New Orleans is known for great music, strong cocktails and insanely rich cuisine. Bourbon street, whiskey drinks, candied pecans and everything in between. The Crescent City brings it all together, which is precisely why it’s my favorite place on Earth. When I can’t be in the Big Easy, I need to find a way to weave all these magical elements together in a fitting homage to glorious excess. The surest way to do this: quality booze.

Dulce Vida Blanco Tequila

Cinco De Mayo Drink Recipes

Cinco De Mayo is a celebration of Mexican heritage. Here in America, we honor the proud history of our neighbors to the south the best way we know how: drinking really good tequila. For my tastes, there is no better homage to Jalisco than Dulce Vida.

Biting the Bulleit

Derby Day is almost upon us and while that means Mint Juleps for many of us, remember that there are still plenty of other classic Bourbon cocktails to enjoy. But before you can get to building your masterpiece, you need to sort out the foundation. One of my all-time favorite Kentucky whiskeys, both for sipping and mixing, remains Bulleit Bourbon Frontier Whiskey. From the color, to the finish, right down to the old-time packaging, it is a gem. Their green labeled Rye is also worthy of admiration. I’ve been sipping on them both for quite some time, but as of late I’ve decided to tinker with a few mixed concoctions. Allow me to share some of my favorites… The Kentucky Cutter Ideal for Derby Day, this Bluegrass beauty combines an ounce of Bulleit Bourbon, 1/2oz. of triple sec, 1/2oz. of lemon juice and 3 dashes of Angostura Bitters. Shake it all [...]

Koloa Rum

I love Kauai as much as I love life itself. I mean, who isn’t transfixed by the unimaginable beauty that surrounds you on every square inch of the Garden Isle. I’ll try not to dwell on Hawaii too much, it’ll only sadden me that I’m not there now. Let me consider drinking my sorrows away…with Kauaian rum, naturally!

Rival Recipes

Baseball season is right around the corner. That means a few things: the unmistakable crack of pine, the scent of freshly-mowed grass, warmer weather, and–of course–another excuse to drink. And while our National Pastime has long been associated with sipping on ice cold beer, here are a couple of cocktail recipes inspired by the most-storied rivalry in professional sports: Red Sox vs. Yankees.

Tequila Time

Spring has sprung. Sun is shining and the weather is sweet. So are the cocktails. During these beautiful in-between months when the blossoms start to bloom, I like to bust out the lighter spirits from my liquor cabinet.  I immediately feel rejuvenated, an infusion of life, right as rain. Tequila has a lot to do with this.

The Melding of Beer and Booze

For a while now, craft beers have upped their sophistication by integrating spirits into their recipes. Wether it be the process of aging their product in bourbon barrels–as is all the rage–or even fitting the flavor profile of rum or gin into the beer itself, brewers elevated the stature of their product by attaching themselves to time-honored liquors. But with the reputability that craft beer has now attained, the roles seem to be reversing. Many distilleries are now incorporating beer into the flavor profile of their products.

Recipe of the Day: Maryjane

Today’s rocking recipe comes from the fine folks over at Breckenridge Distillery, the World’s Highest Distillery. Only fitting that they would give us Maryjane.

Partida Tequila

It’s time to talk tequila. And not the crappy kind with the harsh finish and ambiguous taglines. I want the smooth, delectable nectar of 100% pure blue agave. Partida ultra premium brand fits the bill. The botanical, Earthy aroma that gently wafts from an open bottle of their Blanco is spellbinding.
