Bye Bye Foie Now… (and foie cocktails)

If you live in San Francisco or LA, you probably know that June 30th was the last day you could legally buy (read: as far as we understand, it’s not illegal to eat it) foie gras in California. Animal rights activists have been picking on foie gras producers for quite some time, and culinary geniuses took advantage to market foie-mageddon (if you want to know more about foie, learn a bit from our friend Anthony HERE). A state-wide ban on the fatted goose liver went into affect as the clock struck midnight. But before hand, revelers and foodies tried to stuff their mouths with any kind of foie they could find. We saw full foie dinners, foie ice cream, and foie pizzas, but here at drink me we opted to say goodbye to the culinary delight with a foie gras cocktail.
