The Screwdriver—the classic mixture of orange juice and vodka—has been around since as long as people have been combining spirits with fruit juice. Although it has stood the test of time and has led to countless hangovers over the years, perhaps it’s time to start considering a few slight variations on this refreshing stalwart. I’ve always enjoyed incorporating a little effervescence into the affair, using either a touch of lemon-lime soda or even seltzer to give the drink a desirable spritz that I dub a ‘Phillips-head Screwdriver.’ Recently I came across a further tweaking that seems to blend the drink with a certain margarita-like sensibility.
