Something special is headed to San Francisco this weekend. Namely, the 2012 Craft Spirits Carnival, a two day festival of frivolity taking place at the Herbst Pavilion in the city’s scenic Fort Mason. From 2-5PM on the 13th and 14th, you’ll be able to try and buy more than 100 brands of spirits in a fun and lively environment that also happens to be the world’s largest spirit tasting. That means you won’t just be getting a solid buzz on top-notch booze, you’ll also be a part of history!
All sorts of styles will be on the floor, from Mescal and Tequila, Bourbon and Whiskey, to Vodka and Grappa–even Absinthe, just to name a few popular varieties. One of the main organizers of the event is nearby Hangar 1 Vodka, known for their unique artisanal specialties, such as their aromatic Buddha’s Hand Citron. But they’re just one of many participating brands.
Be sure to enjoy the organic offerings of Crop Vodka and Alquimia Tequila, the robust flavors of Whitetail Whiskey, local favorite Distillery No. 209, Bulleit Bourbon–a personal treasure, and the alluring Jamaican Rum produced by Appleton Estate. And these are just a few of my go-tos. But no matter what floats your boat, the Spirits Carnival has something to help you set sail. And bottles will be available for purchase on-site
As for entertainment, don’t miss out on the ‘edgy’ Vaudeville-style carnival performance that promises to dazzle the senses. I have no clue what to expect, but after more than a few tastings coursing through my bloodstream, I’m prepared to have my mind blown.
Tickets are still available here. Space is limited, however, and they’re sure to go fast throughout the week, so make sure to reserve your spot ASAP. If you’re into spectacular spirits, this is the can’t-miss event of the calendar year. For an opportunity to WIN free tickets, check out the DrinkMe Facebook page and add your favorite bar-themed joke. The one with the most votes will score the grand prize.
