Over the past decade, the sprawling southern metropolis of Jacksonville, Florida has slowly developed into a haven for craft beer. With 7 major producers located within city limits, there’s a lot of fine fermented flavor spread around town.  Unfortunately, dedicating a day to brewery tours requires covering a lot of ground and a very patient set of designated drivers. Thankfully the folks at Jax Brew Bus have come to the rescue, offering up a full-on party bus to take thirsty throngs on ale-inspired adventures around the country’s largest city (by area).

For $50 a head, the Brew Bus will fill your Saturday afternoon with fun as you tour up to 4 local breweries, sampling an assortment of microbrewed specialties along the way. You can reserve transportation for up to 14 friends and arrange to get picked up and dropped off anywhere in the greater Jacksonville area. It’s a unique, exciting way to spend a weekend with care-free access to copious amounts of beer for you and your crew.

While checking out the breweries, you’ll also be exposed to some serious knowledge. Many of the stops include guided tours with brewmasters on-hand explaining the skillful craft that earns them their enviable living.

My experience with the Jax Brew Bus was as unexpected as it was unusual. Bumping into a group of party-goers at Intuition Ale Works, a friend and I were coaxed into joining the tour. We met great people, shared some great beer and even more laughter. The tour guides couldn’t have been any friendlier and easy-going. Since we joined late, we were only able to visit two locations. I anxiously anticipate the next voyage to northeast Florida when I can hop-on the bus for another gnarly adventure.
