Recipe: Orange Cream Margarita

Margaritas and ice cream are two of the great joys of summer–and of life, for that matter. But who says that they need to be enjoyed separately? Combine your pleasures with this super simple recipe blending the flavor of a nostalgic orange creamsicle and the heavenly head buzz of the classic tequila cocktail. In terms of technical equipment, all you’ll ready need access to is a blender. Show up to your Labor Day Suarez with just a handful of easily procurable ingredients and you’ll be the rockstar of the party.

Orange Cream Margarita (makes 1 serving):

Take 1.5 oz. of your favorite tequila–I prefer Patron–throw in a half oz. of triple sec, and a few squeezes of lime, 2.5 oz. of orange juice and a scoop of pure vanilla ice cream. Combine all ingredients with 5-6 oz. of ice in a blender and slush it all up for a few seconds until the drink is of uniform consistency. Pour into a rocks glass and garnish the rim with a touch of salt or sugar and a lime wedge. Repeat as necessary.
