Junk Food Wine Pairing: Skittles

Moscatel and SkittlesMulti Colored Candy Seeking a Mutually Exclusive Relationship with a Wine That Will Complement Our Inner Fruitiness.

We are inseparable yellow (lemon) and green (lime) Skittles who are best friends. Our classic Skittle co-bagmates (strawberry, grape, and orange) often exclude and tease us because they say our parent fruits are only added to food and never just eaten. We want to show them how sophisticated we are by creating a long term relationship with an elegant wine that compliments our floral fruit quality and surprisingly acidic personality.

Sincerely,

Candy Pair Seeking Wine

Dear Candy Pair Seeking Wine,

I believe I am the perfect accompaniment for both of you. I don’t want to give my true name but I am known as Mustcato Giallo, Moscatel Secco, or Goldmuskateller depending on what country I am visiting. I too, am misunderstood by my Muscat (dessert wine) family because, unlike them, I am not sweet — but I’m certainly not boring. My floral, lemon blossom filled, honeysuckle scent is just a ruse to throw off the unsuspecting and impatient. My highly acidic and citrus edge will match your fruit souls and cut your sweet disposition down to size.
