Very few things in life are free, which is ever more apparent during the holidays, when our wallets seem to hemorrhage cash faster than the tree drops those pesky pine needles. Into the carpet. Everywhere. But this year, Drink Me’s helping soften the blow by giving away seven days of boozy swag just in time for grandpa’s post-dinner snooze fest. From Dec. 15-22, we’ll be giving away one spectacular prize per day to the best liquor-infused holiday haiku posted on our Facebook page. From funny family stories to embarrassing work parties, we want to know how liquor has saved your seasonal get-togethers—and your sanity—in 5-7-5 prose. The person with the most votes at the end of the contest will win the grand prize of two tickets to Science of the Cocktail ($240 value) at the San Francisco Exploratorium in January.

So here’s how it works:

1. Visit Drink Me’s Facebook page and, if you’re not already one, become a fan.

2. Every day from Dec. 15-22, we’ll announce the day’s prize at 9 a.m.

3. Post your witty booze-related holiday haiku on our wall (remember, haikus don’t have to rhyme, but they do have to be written in three phrases of 5, 7 and 5 syllables). You can post a new haiku every day if you’d like, but it must contain new subject matter each time to be eligible.

4. Vote by “liking” your favorite haiku. You don’t have to submit a haiku to vote for your favorite. In fact, we encourage spectators to get involved and help spread the best holiday haikus to their friends, virally.

5. If your haiku has the most votes by midnight of that day, you’ll win a nifty prize! The haiku with the most overall “likes” by midnight on Dec. 22 will win the grand prize.
