1) St. Paddy’s Day Block Party at Royal Exchange


The Royal Exchange is THE place to be on St. Patrick’s Day. The popular FiDi pub & grill is hosting their annual block party from 3pm until the wee hours of the night. Indulge in green beer and other Irish-themed goodies.

And at 5pm, local favorite Wonder Bread 5 will be hitting the outdoor stage, crooning everything from Bon Jovi to Michael Jackson. So don’t forget your dancing shoes (and some Advil for the day after). Admission is free.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with an Indian Twist.

Sakoon in Mountain View is hosting a fun Whiskey Tasting this Wednesday in their upstairs lounge. Guests can sample a variety of Whiskeys (including Jamesons and Bushmills), paired with green appetizers from Chef Sachin Chopra. All guests will receive a free “Shamrock Shot” upon arrival. The kitchen will also be serving special dishes in the main dining room, including: Spicy lamb merguez with tandoori pepper sauce, frisee salad ($11); Irish lamb stew – whole lamb shank roasted with fresh herbs and beer, served over blue cheese potatoes ($20); and Spicy vegetarian/chicken meatballs tossed in chimichurri sace ($10).

Each month, Tres Agaves welcomes ambassadors from a tequila distillery to host a tasting during a very special sit down dinner. Nombe, San Francisco’s popular izakaya, is launching a monthly series of sake and food pairing events. This Thursday’s sake tasting will explore four selections of Namazake, the fresh, unpasteurized sake that comes out in the spring.

Chef Nicolaus Balla will feature a special menu to pair with the sakes: Grilled Bamboo shoots with lemon and garlic aioli; Local Halibut Suimono with pea leaves and tendrils, and black truffle; Asparagus Tempura with House-made Karasumi and egg; and Lamb Belly with roasted spring onions, dried strawberries and coriander. Gil Payne, Nombe’s sake sommelier, will be pairing these dishes with a selection of this year’s nama (unpasteurized) sakes. The dinner + sake pairings is $45 per person.
