Look Out, Weekend

Drink Me will be out and about at some special events and places this weekend. Hope you can make one or two of them – maybe we’ll see you there!

On Saturday afternoon, we head to the Peninsula for a brand new, exciting event: Enoteca 1oo. Sponsored by Slow Food South Bay and A.G. Ferrari, the tasting boasts 100 of Italy’s best artisan wines paired with delicious Italian nibbles and signature creations by Donato Enoteca’s own Chef Donato. The inaugural event is rumored to be the Peninsula parallel to San Francisco’s Golden Glass, and we can’t wait to check it out! $55. Redwood City, 1-4PM.

If you’re heading to the slopes this winter, however, and want to sip new wines (on Saturday) or brews (on Sunday) while you gear up, you might want to check out the Ski & Snowboard Festival at Fort Mason instead. $30. Fort Mason, SF.

Helpful hint: South Bay folks can check the same festival out a little closer to home next weekend, at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

Who doesn’t love a day trip to the wine country on the weekends, especially in the Fall? On Sunday, we’re headed to the Domaine Carneros Château for a tour and tasting of their newest organic and vegan sparkling wines and Pinot Noir, and to check out their solar collection system, which is the largest of any winery in the world.

We love their philanthropic work as well as their lines – not only do they support young women pursuing careers in winemaking, wine studies or related culinary arts, they help fight breast cancer and have named a Rosé for Greta Garbo, as well as Julia Child (hers helps to fund a culinary endowment in the grande dame’s name).

Domaine Carneros was founded by Champagne Taittinger in 1987. Napa, CA. Art of Sparkling Wine tours daily at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Reserve spots here.
